Ensuring the health and safety of animals has never been more important than it is today.

Veterinarians caring for cattle

The looming threat of animal diseases could have a major impact on our global food supply and have significant economic repercussions. MatMaCorp’s simple and portable diagnostics play an important role in securing a sustainable and profitable future of animal health.

Current molecular testing solutions for animals are slow, expensive, and require highly trained technicians to run tests and analyze the data. Plus, specialized equipment and a clean environment are necessary. These conditions aren’t always accessible or affordable and may leave you waiting too long for answers.

The MatMaCorp System offers rapid, real-time, low throughput testing, for veterinarians and producers, to analyze animal characteristics, provide onsite surveillance and detect genetic traits that may result in disease.

Our systems are widely used in a variety of applications ranging from genotyping the oriental fruit fly in Hawaii to managing congestive heart failure in American cattle to on farm surveillance for porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV).

CASE STUDIES

Animal Health veterinarians examining cow with Bovine Congestive Heart Failure (BCHF)

The portable system is used to screen beef cattle for susceptibility to congestive heart failure enabling farmers to develop the most effective care regimes. This is a first of its kind application using genetic risk factors for animal management.  As an added benefit, information and results are kept confidential to the feedlot and all test remain under their control.

Cow in pen getting A2 testing with Solas 8

The system successfully tests for the presence of the A2 form of beta-casein, a milk protein produced by dairy cattle, thought to be better tolerated by people who are lactose intolerant. By testing on-site, dairy managers save time and money.  Previously, managers sent samples to reference labs and waited several days for results.

Rapid infection control in pig field

Waiting a long time for results? Livestock on the farm remain at risk of PRRSV infection during this waiting period whereas with the MatMaCorp solution answers are available within 2 hours of testing. This breakthrough has a monumental impact on industry as livestock can be quickly screened, and infections contained, preventing further spread and the risk of a PRRS epidemic.
